Tell us about your family business (What you do, how you started, who’s involved etc)
Lamont Pridmore is a family-run firm of chartered accountants, tax and business advisers with three partners, 53 staff and eight offices across Cumbria and Lancaster. We trace our roots back 120 years, with the firm being run by the same management team and partners for over 25 years. Combining traditional values with a forward-thinking, innovative approach to the constantly evolving demands of the modern business world, we focus on the future rather than the past, starting where many firms finish.
Chief executive and managing partner Graham Lamont is the father of Chris Lamont, resident partner at the firm’s Carlisle office. Wilf Pridmore, our senior partner, and Philip Pridmore, managing director of our Keswick office, are brothers.
What’s your proudest moment/biggest achievement as a family business?
One of our proudest moments was when our chief executive Graham Lamont was asked to become High Sheriff of Cumbria in recognition of the work that he and the firm had done in the local community. In addition, he was further recognised for a Lifetime Contribution to Cumbria Award in 2014.
What do you love about being a family business?
Lamont Pridmore has proved itself time and time again both through the succession of national awards it has won, the prestigious accreditations it has received and the excellent feedback it has continues to get from its clients (see client testimonials) that it is a firm that cares about what it does – and much of this success can be pinned on the close family ties within the firm.
Being a family firm gives us a unique perspective on family-run companies which allows us to provide bespoke advice, based on our own experiences, to the wide variety of businesses we work with.
A large number of our clients are family-run themselves, so they know that by coming to us they can get the tailored support they need, particularly when it comes to succession planning and the deeply emotional decision making that often occurs within such companies.
