The current Co-owners, Michael and Deborah, took over from their father Robin in 2006 and have transformed Aveley into the successful care home it is today. In 2010, Michael’s wife Suzanne joined and in 2016, Deborah’s son Jake started too. Aveley’s success has meant it has been shortlisted for, and are winners of, numerous awards to date. Why? Because Aveley Lodge revolves around our five key principles of care; Dignity, Respect, Independence, Information and Choice which are central to everything we do throughout every interaction between our staff, our residents and visitors. We feel care is more than simply providing personal care. We always look to meet all aspects of an individual’s daily living needs along with social interaction and stimulus. Our activities coordinator offers varied and exciting social activities, events and entertainment through one to one work and group activities encouraging family and friends to join us too. The approach we like to take is that an individual can do as much or as little as they please. It is, after all, their home. Our staff are absolute professionals, leading to the creation of an environment which is relaxed, warm and homely and perfectly equipped to meet the needs of those wishing to live here. Our fantastic catering team ensure all food is freshly home-cooked onsite with ingredients sourced locally. Our gardens were professionally landscaped, creating a fabulous environment with an abundance of wildlife which can be accessed and enjoyed by all. On winning the “Putting People First” Award at the East of England Care Awards 2017, the judges said we are “A dedicated, passionate team of care professionals that really do put the service users at the heart of everything they do”. The judges have also commented, “The two cooks really like to champion that the Home is just that, it’s a home, for one big family” when we were finalists in the “Catering Team of Year” category. The judges acknowledged our H.R. department “Want their staff to feel fully supported as a team member” when we were finalists in the category for “Commitment to Training and Development”.
