Almeda was founded by Gary George in 1981 and started life as a Bristol-based electrical contractor. However, as the years went on customers needed more and, by 2007, Almeda had evolved into a comprehensive facilities management (FM) service. Soon Gary’s son Brady joined the business. Eager to gain a thorough picture of the company, Brady worked in every department of the business before finally taking over as Managing Director in July 2015. Although Brady now heads up the company, the father-son duo still has regular early-morning meetings where ideas are shared. 

At Almeda, numerous customers include English Heritage, Bristol and Bath Science Park, and Tridos Bank. Due to the varied nature of their clientele, Almeda tailor their approach to each customer and use a collaborative approach, working with them to help maximise the efficiency of their workplace.

For Almeda, corporate responsibility also means investing in their team’s progress and wellbeing. For example, the firm’s entire management team recently underwent training through Cranfield University’s Management Development Centre, employees are offered flexible working options and there are vegetable allotments at the company’s Keynsham offices.

To date, Almeda’s biggest achievements include reaching a £6m turnover in 2017 – up from £5.2m in 2016 – and their Five-Year Vision plan outlines how this will increase to £10m. In 2016 the Almeda team also won the IOD South West award for Corporate Responsibility and the Employer of the Year category at the Business Leader Awards.
